Russian warship, go…

“Russian warship, go…”. Well, you know the rest.
On February 24, 2022, Roman Hrybov spoke this legendary phrase practically to death’s face. For that, he deserves deep respect.

And 49 days later, this phrase became prophetic. “Neptune” sent the Russian warship to the bottom of the Black Sea. Metaphorically speaking.

Yes. If words really had such power, we could have long ago sent away not only one ship, and not only a Russian one. We could have sent all weapons there. From all countries. And those nearly 3 trillion dollars of the world’s annual budget could continue to be provided — and even increased — but only so that people would NOT wage war, NOT kill, NOT destroy, and NOT waste the planet’s resources.

But we are intelligent people, and we understand that simply telling it to go away is NOT a solution. Weapons will NOT disappear on their own. There are objective reasons for that.

And what should be done for the people who produce weapons? They go to work, fulfill plans, receive salaries, profits, income from shares… What should be done for the manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials, components, and military technologies? What should be done for everyone involved in industries that grow because of wars? What should be done with the military industry if we live in a consumer economy?

And here the question arises: is there really no way to create conditions under which wars would become unprofitable? To get straight to the point, I want to say: there is!

And not just say it, but show it in a full-length feature film based on real events and existing technologies.

The film will show a chain of positive, realistically possible events that are beneficial to everyone. Well, almost everyone. Why almost? Because NOT everyone will grasp the essence of the idea the first time.

We’ve gotten used to cinema being either endless action movies or bleak dystopias. We know how the world collapses, but almost no one shows how it could reach prosperity.

Do you want to see a film that doesn’t just entertain, but inspires a sense of hope for a brighter future?

“What can be imagined can be achieved.” Our goal is not simply to make a film, but to set a precedent: to show a possible alternative path for humanity’s future.

My name is Anatoliy Karpov. I’m working on a feature-length film in the “hope-cinema” genre. It’s a compelling story about how humanity finds a path to peace—overcoming wars, poverty, and environmental and climate threats by relying on real technologies and human potential.
